It’s a day sure to go down in history for downtown Biloxi. In just five days, the Biloxi Shuckers will finally play in their home stadium Opening Day kicks off with an ultimate tailgate party presented by the Beau Rivage and Main Street Biloxi.
After Wednesday’s announcement the city couldn’t afford to speed up construction, a deal between city officials and the Shuckers was struck, now the nearly $300,000 the city owed the team will be going towards construction.
Shuckers baseball will be a go for June 6th after all.

This afternoon Biloxi Mayor FoFo Gilich announced that MGM Park will not be ready for baseball on Saturday, June 6th.
Presented with the prospect of paying at least $300,000 to have MGM Park ready for an early opening June 6 with no guarantee that the work could be done in time, Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich announced today that the City of Biloxi will instead work with Yates Construction toward an opening before Aug 4.
The Biloxi Shuckers 55 game road trip could be extended for a few more weeks.
