Baseball Stadium Updates

The Biloxi Shuckers 55 game road trip could be extended for a few more weeks.
Friday, Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich toured MGM Park for the first time and has questions on whether or not it will be ready by June 6th. Each game played away from home is costing tax payers $10,000 in fines, but speeding up construction to have the stadium ready by the 6th could be costing the city just as much or more.
Vincent Creel, City Of Biloxi Public Affairs Manager, says the mayor wants to know who is going to pay costs to keep the stadium opening on June 6th: “if we open it now, there are going to be some costs in speeding it up, number one. Number two, Mayor Gilich wants to know, are we going to diminish the quality of this first class park by opening it early without having all the amenities open? So that are some of the things he’s looking at right now.”
Once Mayor Gilich looks at costs, he will make a recommendation to the council on whether or not Opening Day will be pushed back. He will decide sometime this week.
