Lawmakers discuss increase in teacher salary

The Mississippi Legislature’s Senate Education Committee met Wednesday to discuss increasing teacher pay in Mississippi. Mississippi is currently the state with the lowest average teacher pay in the nation. According to the Southern Regional Education Board, the average teacher salary in the U.S. for 2018-2019 was $62,304.
