Hyde-Smith co-sponsors proposed bill honoring 13 Americans killed in Kabul
Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith is co-sponsoring a bill to honor the 13 American service members killed in Afghanistan just weeks ago.
The mission of the bill is to award the Congressional Gold Medal to the 11 men and two women who lost their lives last month during a terrorist attack outside the airport in Kabul.
Hyde-Smith is among the 35 original sponsors of Senate Bill 2756.
In a statement about the bill, Hyde-Smith said in part: “These brave young servicemen and servicewomen served valiantly in terrible and dangerous circumstances to help save fellow Americans and allies. Their heartbreaking loss at the hands of terrorists deserves the highest recognition no matter how one views the flawed U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. I hope Congress acts quickly to honor these heroes and the families they left behind.”
