9/22 – Jeff’s “Welcome to Fall” Weekend Forecast

It will be mild to start off your weekend. Fall officially begins at 1:50 AM but it won’t necessarily mean much as our pattern won’t make any significant changes. Saturday and Sunday will feature mild starts and hot afternoons under mainly sunny skies.

An unsettled pattern begins to arrive for Monday and beyond. Monday – Wednesday bring 30-40% thunderstorm chances for South Mississippi. Appreciable rainfall is needed for our drought-stricken area. The front responsible for the unsettled conditions will not make it through our region until late-week if it even can do so.

The tropics have some life to them at the moment. Ophelia is closing in on an impact to a stretch of coast from North Carolina to New Jersey. For our intents and purposes, it remains quiet and no tropical threats to the Mississippi Coast can be expected for at least the next week.
