05/21 Ryan’s “Wet Week” Monday Night Forecast

Quite a wet start to the week today, and sadly little will change through the rest of the week. Expect showers through the morning and evening due to daytime heating influences, a tropical airmass, and a broad area of low pressure. This will bring plenty of moisture in, but we’ll see even more near the end of the week as a developing tropical system pushes into the Northern Gulf. There isn’t much agreement between models with this system right now as projected tracks vary from East Texas to Central Florida, but a few agree it will be closer to the South Mississippi area. This wave only has around a 20% chance of developing into a depression over the next five days, but even if it doesn’t it will still bring showers, gusting winds, and likely thunderstorms into the Gulf Coast region. Unfortunately, this doesn’t bode well for Memorial day weekend since our already high rain chances only go up as this system moves in on Saturday. Stay tuned to WXXV News 25 for updates as the week progresses.
