03/19 Ryan’s “Early Spring” Thursday Evening Forecast

Spring begins later tonight which might seem a bit early for everyone who remembers the equinox falling on the 21st. The reason for that is complicated, but there’s a quick explanation at the beginning of the forecast video. Weather-wise, expect cloudy skies with patchy fog and a warm low near 70 in Gulfport…very similar to the last several nights.

For the first full day of spring tomorrow it will be appropriately warm with a high climbing into the low 80s.

Cloudy skies remain in place, as do the muggy conditions. The only notable change will be the front closing in. That means rain chances will increase again, especially late in the evening and overnight. Right now there’s a “marginal” risk for severe weather tomorrow, but only in extreme NW South MS. This front stalls as it moves through, so don’t expect a big influx of cooler, drier air. Cloud cover and rain chances linger into Monday, but the sun returns soon after.
