9/5 – Payton’s Wednesday Afternoon Forecast

Tropical Storm Gordon made landfall in far eastern Jackson County last night around 10 pm as a strong tropical storm. The storm was very lopsided and because of that most of the area hardly saw any rain or wind. Those in Jackson and George counties saw the worst of the storm in South Mississippi. The rain associated with Gordon isn’t over. We’ll continue to have a heavy showers move through the area throughout the day. By tomorrow things will start transition back to normal with winds letting up and popup showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon.

TROPICS: The East Coast will have to keep an eye on Hurricane Florence. Another area in the Atlantic will have a high chance of development over the next 5 days. We’ll keep an eye on it as it moves toward the west northwest, but at the moment that’s all there is too know about it. It’s too early to go into specifics.
