8/6 – Payton’s Sunday Night Forecast

After heavy rainfall today across parts of South Mississippi, we continue to see clearing and drying tonight. An isolated shower is not out of the question tonight, but most should remain dry. As somewhat drier air moves into the area, along with high pressure, rain chances will be less this week than last week. We could still see the summertime afternoon showers and thunderstorms throughout most of the week, but Wednesday looks to be the best day for showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will be right around to slightly below average in the lower 90s.

We continue to watch the tropics for development. An area of low pressure in the Caribbean developed into Tropical Storm Franklin Sunday night, but will go in to Mexcio, so it will not be an issue for South Mississippi. An areain the Atlantic has a moderate chance of development over the next five days. It’s too soon to speculate where exactly this disturbance will go, but we will keep a close eye on it and give updates as needed. Have a wonderful week!
