8/9 – Rob Knight’s Friday Morning “Spotty Rain” Forecast

We are expecting another typical warm day in August across the region. Expect isolated showers & t-storms this morning along the coast and south, and then again later today coupled with daytime heating. Late morning through afternoon will bring heat index values around 105 and possibly up to 107F.

The upper level high will slowly slide east of the Arklatex region by Saturday. Several disturbances will dive from north to south along the edges of the high creating a chance of storms early Saturday through the afternoon and Sunday afternoon but mainly over east zones. Heat index values will possibly approach and occasionally exceed 108 in a few spots

Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Heat advisories could be issued. The upper level high will continue to push east over the ArkLaMiss region suppressing most convection not all early next week and continued warm and muggy conditions. Models show a faster breakdown of the high-pressure than what I think which could yield a slightly dryer and warmer forecast mid next week.
