8/8 – Rob’s “Hump Day” Morning Forecast
A fairly typical summer pattern will remain in place for the central Gulf coast region over the next few days…with a more amplified pattern to develop heading into the weekend.
A few showers approaching the coastal areas this morning will continue to dissipate with daytime heating drying up the atmosphere. Isolated t-storms will develop this afternoon into early evening, with a slight possibility for a few severe thunderstorms with frequent lightning, wind gusts near or exceeding 40 mph and small hail.
The amplified pattern over much of the Conus is expected to continue over the weekend with rain potential elevating above 50%. High pressure moving into the area Sunday should start to bring rain chances down near to slightly below normal for this time of year by Monday or so. Temperatures should remain fairly close to the seasonal averages, but likely a bit lower on the higher rain coverage days and higher on the drier days.
