4/17 – Payton’s Tuesday Afternoon Forecast

Another sunny/nice afternoon with temperatures in the mid 70s. High temps will moderate into then lower 80s on Wednesday. A clipper trough racing east across the northern 1/3 of the country mid/late week will send a dry front through the forecast area late Wednesday night. This will knock temps down Thursday and Friday.

The next weather impact will be coming this weekend. Models are in good agreement showing an upper low coming into the West Coast Thursday and tracking east to the southern plains by Saturday evening. The low looks to be tracking closer than normal to the area, right across Arkansas and northern MS/AL Sunday. This will bring a surface low with cold and warm fronts appended to it. Models do show some instability, we will have to see how model solutions progress. We’ll have the rest of this week to fine tune the forecast as we head into the weekend.
