3/7 – Payton’s Thursday Afternoon Forecast
The southerly winds will return throughout today meaning the moisture and clouds are back…along with warmer temperatures! Rain doesn’t appear possible until late Friday night. Fog will also move back into the area. This primarily looks likely Friday into Saturday. Overnight lows tonight will be some 15-20 degrees warmer than past nights.
Models are similar in overall pattern with spring storm developing near the Texas Panhandle Friday night then lifting northeast to elongate a frontal zone over the forecast area Saturday evening into Sunday. Regarding the severe weather potential for Saturday night, the elongated frontal zone becomes parallel with upper levels southwest flow pattern to reduce the threat considerably. The Storm Prediction Center has adjusted the slight risk area to now have the coastal counties under a marginal threat for severe weather Saturday night into Sunday. The best rain chances look to be Sunday morning into the early afternoon.
