1/24 – Payton’s Wednesday Afternoon Forecast

Today will continue to bring a north wind an fairly dry conditions with the exception of upper-level clouds. The moisture flow will begin to surge north over Texas Thursday ahead of the next developing cold front. This moisture surge will eventually work its way west of our area Friday with a few showers in SE Louisiana. Rainfall will steadily increase in amount and areal coverage through Saturday when a surface low-pressure develops over the northern gulf or along the coast. Heavy rainfall will move east with the low and should be east of the area by Sunday. A cold front will then move through later in the day on Sunday with a few showers but will be mostly moisture starved.

High pressure will settle back into the area for most of next week, but by the end of the week some very interesting features are beginning to show up which are looking to make things interesting. This is a bit outside the temporal range of this forecast for now.
