10/1 – Payton’s Sunday Night Forecast

Happy October, South Mississippi! Hopefully you had a great weekend and start to Cruisin’ The Coast. There were a few showers and thunderstorms today, but most have cleared this evening, but more are on the way tonight and into tomorrow. Expect overcast and on and off showers and thunderstorms for your Monday. Along with some heavy showers, gusty winds will start along the coast tonight and go through Tuesday. Because of a the breezy conditions out of the east, the National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for the southern three counties until 1 PM Tuesday. Tides could be about 1-2 feet higher than usual with high tide running during the late morning hours. The waters will not be safe as winds will be out of the east at 20-25 knots with a heavy chop. There is a Small Craft Advisory until Tuesday. This wave of energy bring showers and thunderstorms will move out of the area by Tuesday night, and that’s when drying and calmer winds will move back into South Mississippi. Expect mostly sunny skies for Wednesday into Friday, and then rain chances return for the weekend. Have a great week!
