05/22 Ryan’s “Possibly Tropical” Tuesday Night Forecast

A few of my social media followers have jokingly deduced we’re seeing nearly identical days all week long, but a potentially tropical system is brewing and will be moving towards the Gulf over the next few days. Outside of this weekend’s tropical influence, expect the local weather to remain largely the same as what we’ve seen but just a bit wetter as the weekend rolls around. The models at the moment are not in agreement about this potential system. The Euro has it moving in right on top, or just to the Wast of us around Sunday night, while the GFS has it moving much further East into Florida, and arriving on Monday. It isn’t certain yet whether or not it will develop into a tropical cyclone, but it is possible after it moves into the more favorable environment of the Eastern Gulf. I see this system becoming a low-end tropical storm in a “worst case” scenario, even though a depression is more likely and I’m still not even sold it will hold together. One thing is for sure either way, it will be coming close enough to bring more rain to the Gulf Coast for Memorial Day weekend.
