02/24 Ryan’s “Mardi Gras Weekend” Friday Afternoon Forecast

We’ve seen a string of warm, humid, and sunny days in South MS, but this weekend will hold some much cooler and drier weather. Though our skies remained mostly sunny throughout the day, clouds are expected to increase into the overnight hours ahead of a weak, fast-moving cold front. Absolutely no severe weather is expected as this system passes through before sunrise, but a few showers aren’t out of the question. This system sweeps away much of the moisture in the area, so Saturday and Sunday are expected to get progressively clearer and cooler with temperatures in the upper, then mid 60s. Saturday night will be chilly, reaching 40 in Gulfport and the upper 30s inland, but the cooler conditions don’t last long. A warm front will move Northward across the area on Monday causing showers, thunderstorms, and warmer air. As this new frontal system begins to stall, the rain chances lessen on Tuesday (Mardi Gras), though ample cloud cover and at least a few showers are expected. The rain flares up again on Wednesday before the low is finally pushed from the area, which will lead us into another cooler and drier weekend next week as well.
