Wet pattern continues across South Mississippi
Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the week ahead
Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast each day through at least Friday, with a marginal risk for severe weather, and slight to moderate risk for flash flooding. Some storms may produce heavy downpours, leading to localized flooding in areas with poor drainage, especially when repeated rounds of rain occur.
Rain and thunderstorms are likely tonight, with additional rounds expected on Wednesday and Thursday. High temperatures will remain somewhat limited by the cloud cover and rainfall, topping out in the mid 80s. Overnight lows will stay warm and muggy in the mid 70s.
By Thursday and Friday, a breezy southerly wind will develop as moisture continues streaming north, associated with the tropical disturbance moving inland in Louisiana. Rain chances remain elevated, and thunderstorms are expected to become more widespread during the afternoon and evening hours.
The wet pattern begins to ease slightly over the weekend, though scattered showers and storms will still be possible each afternoon. By early next week, sunshine becomes more common, and temperatures climb back into the lower 90s with only isolated storm chances by Tuesday.
