Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport holds Change of Command Ceremony

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Over at the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, there’s a new commanding officer.

Captain Tate Metlen relieved Captain Ana Franco Wednesday. Captain Franco assumed command in July 2023. During her tenure the installation continued modernization efforts and strengthened partnerships across the Coast.

During the ceremony, Captain Metlen was challenged to build upon Captain Franco’s work.

Captain Metlen is a graduate of the United States Navy Academy, previously serving as a surface warfare officer before transferring to the Civil Engineer Corps in 2010.
