12/13 – Jeff’s “Developing Coastal Low” Wednesday Night Forecast
Winds remaining a factor overnight and increasing cloud cover will help keep temperatures milder with about 5 degree warmer readings to start your Thursday. For tomorrow, expect mostly cloudy skies in the form of thin upper-level clouds. Breezy conditions will settle in too with winds gusting over 20 MPH at times. An area of low pressure will be developing in the Gulf of Mexico. Winds from this will lead to hazardous marine conditions and coastal flooding issues.
Also, another system will be gathering steam across the Plains for the end of the week. Both of these systems will play a role in our conditions through this weekend. Gale Warnings will be in effect from 12 PM Thursday through Saturday. Some details need to be ironed out but Saturday will be the day we see rainfall. If the Gulf Low tracks farther north, a persistent drizzle/light rain could settle in first. However, the highest confidence for rain will come with the cold front attached to the northern storm system. Rainfall totals will not be appreciable outside of maybe a half-inch in localized spots.
