07/20 Ryan’s “Dangerous Heat” Monday Forecast

It's going to cool down a touch from where we were over the weekend, but we're still looking at dangerous heat in the area.

Things are going to cool down today from where we were over the weekend, but we’re still expecting dangerous heat once again this afternoon. Heat Advisories are in effect and will remain so through Tuesday afternoon, so please continue to practice heat and sun safety for the next couple of days. That means staying hydrated, wearing light, loose-fitting clothing, seeking shade whenever possible, and just outright avoiding the outdoors between the hours of 2-6 PM if you can. We’ll see at least a few more than average (~30%) afternoon showers and thunderstorms, which will cool things down a little in a few lucky areas. Thunderstorms are possible, but severe weather is not likely.

Tropical Depression Two is has not yet organized into tropical storm Bertha. It’s likely it will later today, though the official track still has it passing to the south of us in the Northern Gulf. Our biggest potential issue will likely be coastal flooding thanks to 2-4′ of storm surge due to the storms positioning and timing. That means homeowners along the coast could see a potential maximum increase of around 5′ above sea-level, and may need to relocate any low-lying property. Stay tuned for further updates.
