12/8 – Jeff’s “Cold Front/Thunderstorms” Weekend Forecast
Some breaks in the clouds this evening will fill back in as plenty of moisture works into the region. Temperatures remain mild and it will be more muggy as compared to the last several nights. Some patches of fog could develop if clouds can drop close enough to the surface. In addition to that, some beachfront spots could see sea fog set up.
Saturday will be mostly rain-free during the daytime. A 30% chance of showers and a stray thunderstorm will be possible but most of the pop-up activity will be north of our area. The first half of the day will be relatively nice with even some sunshine. However, a storm system will be moving into the region and it will have a vigorous cold front along with it.
Thunderstorm chances will increase beginning Saturday evening, and peak between 10 PM and 4 AM overnight into Sunday morning. Some thunderstorms will be capable of strong wind gusts, hence why our area is in a Level 1 of 5 threat for severe weather. This activity will clear the area by Sunday morning at the latest.
Gusty winds out of the north/northwest will bring in much colder air. Rapid clearing of the skies will take place Sunday but temperatures will struggle to reach 60 degrees. Several cold mornings can be expected next week and it will feel more like winter as we move through the middle portion of December.
