8/4 – Payton’s Friday Evening Forecast

Heavy showers and thunderstorms across the area today dumped up to seven inches in some areas. Activity will continue to decrease tonight, but more rain tomorrow as the boundary and disturbance sits over the area. Some good news though as rain chances began to decrease for the beginning of next week as high pressure starts to build into the area. This will put South Mississippi in a more typical summertime pattern with isolated showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon. Temperatures will run around normal in the lower 90s with lows in the upper 70s.

The tropics continue to heat up as we head into August. Two areas are being monitored for development right now, but nothing is expected to impact South Mississippi as of now. As always though stay aware and check back for updates.
