8/18 – Rob Knight’s Friday Afternoon Forecast

After a HUMID start to the day…it’s VERY HOT and HUMID under a few/partly cloudy skies…

Today will be the end of a short period of lower rain potential and the return to a more typical wet mid-August regime. This pattern will persist through the weekend and possibly into next week, as an area of high-pressure to the south will move west. This will allow for an upper-level area of low-pressure to move in from the Caribbean…increasing rain chances.

Intense daytime heating and decreased subsidence will allow for afternoon thunderstorms to develop this afternoon…but more so tomorrow through the weekend into early next week. Daytime high temperatures will be similar to yesterday, 90 to 95 with the HEAT INDICES in the low 100s. If working outdoors be safe and remember hydration, take periodic breaks and seek shade often.
