8/11 – Payton’s Friday Afternoon Forecast

After a dry start to the day, showers and thunderstorms are across the area, and unfortunately it looks like the hot and stormy afternoons will continue into the weekend as not much change will happen to the upper air pattern. High pressure continues to keep the area in a tropical airmass, and fronts off to the north. Toward the beginning of next week a cold front will approach the area, but stall out just north of the area, which will just increase cloud cover and rain chances. The temperatures will remain hot in the lower 90s, but it will feel much hotter.

The tropics are looking good for South Mississippi as of now, but a few areas in the Atlantic are being monitored for development. These do not appear to be an issue for our area. Have a wonderful weekend!
