8/9 – Rob’s “Midday News” Afternoon Forecast

A more active weather pattern will begin through the upcoming weekend. For today, most of this widespread thunderstorm activity should remain to our north with generally the “same ole” afternoon boundary-driven convection expected later today.

By Friday and Saturday, a weak stationary front will drape across central Mississippi providing for elevated rain potential into next week. We could see locally stronger thunderstorms in the afternoon Friday and Saturday as storms move generally from WNW to ESE, with the potential for strong gusty winds along and dangerous lightning. Rainfall amounts could also get to the 1-3″ going into the weekend.

By next week, a rather complicated pattern will build across most of the CONUS. Expect the potential for slightly above-average temperatures into the beginning and middle part of next week, followed by limited afternoon thunderstorm development with no significant impactful weather expected at this time.
