8/19 – Payton’s Sunday Night Forecast

After a very wet weekend, that trend will continue the beginning of your work week. Your Monday will start with a showers and thunderstorms, and more are expected during the afternoon. A few will produce gusty winds, but most will have very heavy rainfall, and frequent lightning. The strongest thunderstorms could also produce localized flash flooding. Going into Tuesday rain chances will decrease slightly, but there will still be showers and thunderstorms as a cold front makes its way into the area. By Tuesday night rain chances go down as a cold front sits in the area. It will slow down it’s south movement as it enters South Mississippi, and depending on how far south it makes it will determine how dry we are in South Mississippi. By Wednesday rain chances go down to zero as dry air filters in behind the cold front. This continues into Thursday and most of Friday. That’s when moisture returns and rain chances and humidity returns this weekend.

TROPICS: No tropical development is expected over the next five days.
