8/19 – Payton’s Monday Afternoon Forecast
We will see rounds of heavy rain today, so keep the umbrella close by. The flooding threat is low, but if you get stuck under a downpour you could pick up a couple of inches of rain fairly quickly. Tonight will trend drier, but a few showers are still possible. The rain and clouds should keep temperatures in the mid to upper 80s today. Tuesday will be similar with a little less rain expected. Highs will be in the upper 80s. The driest days look to be Wednesday and Thursday although there will still be a few t-storms across the area. As we head into the weekend we’ll have to keep an eye on a tropical wave in the Caribbean. The wave isn’t really expected to develop into much, but it will bring deep tropical moisture into the Gulf and potentially South Mississippi. If this plays out we’ll likely see heavier rain later this week and into the beginning of next week. There is still a possibility this doesn’t get close enough and the moisture stays to our southwest. For now we’ll just watch it.
