8/15 – Payton’s Thursday Afternoon Forecast

Some relief from the heat and humidity today, but it’s still a hot one. A few popup t-storms are possible, but the best chance will be over the waters. By Friday much of the same weather with low rain chances and sunshine mixed with clouds. Saturday more moisture starts to flow into the area and rain chance will increase Saturday into Sunday. This pattern of afternoon showers and t-storms continue into next week with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s.

TROPICS: No tropical development is expected over the next five days. Have you been hearing about tropical development next weekend? This weekend and most of next week remain quiet in the tropics, but there is currently a weak tropical wave in the Atlantic. It looks like it will head toward the Caribbean by next week and models are flip-flopping on any development. Keep in mind tropical waves are common and the majority don’t develop into anything. This thing might not develop into anything…and then again it might. Current thinking is it doesn’t do much, but It’s a very tricky forecast and a lot of things must come together for this thing to turn into a storm, so for now we just keep an eye on it.
