7/14 – Payton’s Friday Afternoon Forecast
Showers and thunderstorm chances today as a surge of deep tropical moisture into the region associated with a tropical wave currently moving through the Gulf of Mexico will keep a more unsettled weather pattern in place through Sunday. Higher than average t-storm activity can be expected today and tomorrow…with likely precipitation of around 60 percent from late morning through early evening. Convection will be largely driven by instability, so convective activity should wave during the overnight hours over inland areas.
The pattern will shift heading into Sunday and Monday as the tropical wave feature continues pushing west toward the Texas coast. As this occurs, a drier air mass will begin to move into the region decreasing rain potential early next week.
