7/5 – Rob Knight’s Thursday Morning Forecast
An easterly wave will march through the area today as a ridge of high-pressure gives way to the west. It should be west of the area by Friday morning, this will allow for high-pressure to become anchored back over the central gulf through the weekend into next week.
A cold front will approach over the weekend but should stall near central Mississippi. This will help cause a good bit of showers/t-storms to break out along and ahead of the front and move southward into the area starting Saturday. The abundant deep moisture will remain behind the departing wave, so there won’t be any lack in that department. But we will also be having sea-breeze boundaries causing showers/t-storms development as well.
These two features will work to keep precip chances relatively high over the weekend. The front backs off during the first of the new week but the moisture and a broad weakness along the gulf coast will keep showers/t-storms numbers high well into next week.
