7/3 – Payton’s Tuesday Afternoon Forecast

The low continues to move toward the west, but we’re still close enough that we will see heavy showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The heaviest of the rain should remain just off to the west though, so if you are travelling into Louisiana expect to run into showers and thunderstorms. Going into July 4th we will still have enough moisture and daytime heating for showers and thunderstorms to popup, but it won’t be as widespread as the past few days. Going into the evening there could still be a few showers and thunderstorms in the area, but I’m not expecting widespread activity. Have a back up plan just in case. Into Thursday and Friday another wave will move near the area, and rain chances will continue into the weekend.

TROPICS: The upper level low moving through the area has a 0% chance of development. There is a non-tropical low and upper level trough southwest of Bermuda. This area has a 20% chance of development over the next five days. It will stay away from the Gulf Coast.
