7/20 – Rob Knight’s “Potentially Wet” Workweek Forecast

Deep moisture which is quite evident as an easterly wave moves west into the western gulf this morning. It is being suppressed quite a bit by the ridging to the northeast. The wave will give just enough moisture and instability to get some showers/t-storms started again today but most of the activity will be along or just inland of the coast and mainly west of the Miss River. Not a lot of change for Tue with precip numbers maybe a few points lower but that would be about it.

Wednesday through Sunday, the NHC outlooked area over the Antilles indicated to come across the Gulf as at least an open tropical wave, bringing enhanced rain chances and potential efficient rain rates Wednesday through at least Friday before trending back to a typical coverage for next weekend. Heat should be tempered by enhanced cloud cover and rain, but still challenging upper 90s to around 100 on apparent temperatures before becoming rain cooled.
