6/20 – Rob Knight’s Final Day Of Spring Forecast

Satellite imagery shows an upper-level area of high-pressure spreading westward across the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

This will suppress the atmosphere providing for VERY LOW rain potential and HOT CONDITIONS.

Expect isolated showers/t-storms further inland and to the west of the viewing area.

An upper level trough will move across the Central Plains today and into the mid/upper Mississippi Valley Thursday. This will cause the ridge of high-pressure over the Gulf to retreat slightly. I have increased precipitation chances to near 50% in SW Mississippi with 30% or less from New Orleans to Mobile for the 1st day of Summer.

The aforementioned upper low will lift northeast ending this week, thus allowing the ridge over the Gulf to spread north over the region this weekend. Subsequently, rain chances will drop quite a bit and temps should be on the rise.
