5/8 – Rob Knight’s Friday/Mother’s Day Weekend Forecast

A cold front moving through the region will bring scattered showers and t-storms to south Mississippi this afternoon into this evening.

Instability with this system is not impressive but the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has the areas under a SLIGHT THREAT for severe storms. This is especially true for the northwest and northern half of the region with more instability pooling along the front. The main threat for our area could be strong winds from a few t-storms collapsing rapidly…along with small hail. Surface winds will increase through the day before the activity move in. Showers and t-storms will begin to diminish after sunset and should be out of the area by midnight at the latest. Clouds will linger into Saturday morning then clear during the afternoon. Dry conditions are expected Sunday and beyond.
