5/29 – Rob’s Tuesday Morning Forecast

A quiet morning as Sub-Tropical Depression Alberto continues to push northward through Alabama. Alberto will still have a bearing on the forecast today. Expect showers and thunderstorms to develop this afternoon around broad circulation around Alberto. Wednesday expect more of the same as showers and storms could develop in the afternoon but the coverage should be less as increased high-pressure building in from the west begins to exert more influence.

The ridge axis over Texas will begin to extend eastward across the Lower Mississippi Valley for the latter part of the week. This would keep rainfall mostly out of the forecast and temperatures to rise. In fact, expect highs in the low/mid-90s for the second half of the week.

Guidance still suggests that a trough will move over the eastern United States by Sunday into early next week, this in turn will push a weak boundary into the area. We will continue to carry low end precipitation chances for Sunday and Sunday night as the boundary will go stationary overhead.
