5/13 – Rob Knight’s “Hot & Humid Weekend” Friday Afternoon Forecast

At the surface, weak high pressure extended from Pennsylvania southwestward to the north central Gulf south of Louisiana, with an upper low-pressure to our east. With moisture convergence enhanced today, forecast soundings show an increase in precipitable water levels during the day today. With the lower precipitable water values hold off any convective development until late afternoon. Once convection develops, expect it to linger at least until early evening before dissipating or moving into the coastal waters. Areal coverage would be expected to remain in the isolated to scattered ranges, primarily late afternoon/early evening.

With the additional expected cloud cover and convection, would expect most areas to see high temperatures remain in the 80s today. The decrease in precipitable water values Saturday and Sunday would allow high temperatures to increase at least a couple degrees.
