3/15 – Rob Knight’s “Wet Tuesday Morning” Forecast

Instability is still not impressive with this system as it moves east across the Mississippi Gulf Coast this morning. Scattered showers/t-storms will move across the area this morning with the potential for spotty areas of heavy rain. The area continues to be under a low-end THREAT FOR SEVERITY with the main threat being GUSTING WINDS and SMALL HAIL.

The area will get dry slotted from about 10 am well into the afternoon hours. Most guidance would like to erode the low cloud deck rapidly by mid-afternoon and if this deck is “thin” this could be the case, but the temperature profile looks too deep to allow this on a rapid case and instead partly cloudy skies will prevail. A few overnight showers will be possible into Wednesday morning as the area of low-pressure continues to move away from the main system.

St. Patrick’s Day will bring lovely conditions before the next system moves in Friday afternoon into Saturday morning.
