2/2 – Rob’s Groundhog Day/Friday Morning Forecast
The cold front is now south of the area as WINDY conditions continue. Models continue to show heavy rainfall potential for the weekend. Rainfall will begin to develop by this evening over north central Mexico and increase in both coverage and amount as it moves east through and out of Texas. If the heaviest rainfall moves into our local area it would do so Saturday night into early Sunday, with the potential of receiving total amounts from 2 to 4 inches. Regardless, all locations are expected to receive at least light to moderate rainfall
SuperBowl Sunday will bring cloudy skies with the coverage clearing overnight into Monday along with temperatures climbing to around 70 degrees for a high. Another Canadian front will move through Monday but will quickly stall and return along with abundant moisture by Monday night into Tuesday. This will once again bring showers/t-storms back to the area Tuesday through Wednesday with the next front moving through Wednesday morning. Models disagree by this time frame as to flush all the moisture southeast along with the cold front or to keep some residual back over the Gulf States.
