1/26 – Rob Knight’s Weekend “Midday News” Forecast

After a MUCH WARMER start to the day earlier this morning, mild and humid conditions can be expected this afternoon as winds will gust in excess of 20 mph. temperatures through the region. A trough of low-pressure from western Missouri to Arklatex is expected to track to the Great Lakes today and leave deep moisture across the Lower Mississippi Valley, especially along the coast.

An area of low-pressure is expected to develop over the north central gulf Saturday morning tracking to the east. Models continue to struggle with the position of this trough/low. Nonetheless, HEAVY RAINFALL will be a possibility as models indicate anywhere from 1-3″ of rainfall. The majority of the activity will affect the area late Saturday morning through just before sunrise Sunday. A trailing cold front will finally push through Sunday afternoon with moisture displaced east Sunday. Northwest flow will maintain a dry period Monday through Wednesday of next week. The next system will bring another chance of rain late Wednesday night through Thursday.
