1/14 – Payton’s Sunday Night Forecast

It was another chilly day, but there was plenty of sunshine across the area. We’ll have one more day of improving weather as we head into Monday, but a cold front along with clouds will start to move back into the area Tuesday. Right now there is still uncertainty with the exact forecast regarding frozen precipitation. Some models have enough moisture in the area for light winter precip to fall in the area late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, and other models have the area dry. For now we are not expecting anything major even if a few flakes of snow do fall. For now we’ll go with a very slight chance of a light wintry mix late Tuesday Night into early Wednesday morning. The accumulating snow should remain north of Jackson where northern portions of the state could see up to an inch of snow Monday night. The big story for us will be the cold temperatures. Highs on Wednesday will struggle to get out of the 30s, and the wind will make it feel much colder, so take tomorrow to prepare for a hard freeze with wind chills in the teens for Wednesday morning and Thursday morning.

We warm as we head into the weekend, but fog will become an issue once moisture and temperatures increase. Our next rain chances look to be late Saturday going into the beginning of next week.
