10/5 – Payton’s Thursday Afternoon Forecast

Another beautiful day for South Mississippi with temperatures in the upper 80s and partly cloudy skies, but that will all be coming to an end this weekend. All eyes continue to be on what will be Tropical Storm Nate. Forecasts continue to trend west with the track of the storm, which means the storm could have a bigger impact on South Mississippi. There is still a few days left to fine tune the forecast, and get a better idea of how strong the storm will be once it makes its way into the Gulf of Mexico. Right now the National Hurricane Center has the storm making landfall in South Mississippi as a category one storm Sunday Morning, but I urge you to check back multiple times a day as the forecast will be changing over the next few days. Even a slight shift in the track could mean different impacts for the coast. Either way you should review your hurricane plan, and expect rain and gusty winds this weekend.
