1/18 – Jeff Vorick’s “Spotty Light Rain” Thursday Evening Forecast

Spotty rain/drizzle will be possible at times this evening into tonight. Some reduced visibility may be found if  mist picks up and the cloud deck falls close to the ground. Relatively mild temperatures stick around until a cold front passes through the area later on. The front will make it through our area around midnight leading to a wind shift. Winds will turn north/northwesterly and continue into Friday. With clearing skies, that will allow sunlight to mix and create gusty winds at times. It will also be cooler than what we had today.

The story then becomes the cold temperatures this weekend. A Hard Freeze Watch is in effect from Midnight – 9 AM for Saturday morning. Temperatures will dip into the 20s so it will be essential to protect the 4 Ps including bringing in pets and plants, protecting pipes, and checking on neighbors. It will be cold all weekend with winds backing off Sunday, which will still be a very cold morning. Temperatures turn warmer next week with a wet pattern expected.
