1/15 – Jeff Vorick’s “Winter Weather Advisory/Bitter Cold” Monday Evening Forecast

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for our area tonight until 9 AM Tuesday. There will be the possibility of light freezing rain leading to some icing concerns, mainly on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses. Scattered light rain continues this evening and overnight, colder air will then work in. Locations that drop below freezing will see the icing concerns. The farther north and west you are, the more likely you are to see these issues. Rapid clearing taking place tomorrow will help melt/dry out the area.

The biggest concern this week is dangerous cold. For tonight, a Hard Freeze Warning and Wind Chill Advisory are in effect from 9 PM tonight until 12 PM tomorrow and Harrison & Jackson County are under a Freeze Warning. Temperatures will be in the 20s feeling like the single digits to teens. Tuesday will be cold with temperatures struggling to reach 40 and wind chills not getting above 30 degrees.

A Hard Freeze Warning and Wind Chill Advisory will be in effect for the entire area from 10 PM Tuesday night until 10 AM Wednesday morning. Temperatures in the teens will feel like the single digits. In addition to properly layering up, be sure to protect the 4 P’s. Plants and pets need to be brought in, pipes need to be protected, and you need to check on neighbors.
