09/30 Ryan’s “Fall-like Friday” Forecast

Since it was such a Fall-like Friday, I had to keep the afternoon’s forecast video up just for the gorgeous few seconds of the “Live on 25” camera in Pascagoula. It helped that the forecast didn’t change any for the local area, but we’ve had several big changes in the tropics, more on that later. Expect tonight to remain cool and clear with a low near 61, with calm winds. Tomorrow will be slightly warmer, only by a degree or so though, high near 83. Continue to expect nearly cloudless skies through tomorrow, but a few clouds will arrive on Sunday afternoon due to a shortwave low pressure feature, though rain is still not expected. Expect another round of cool/dry air moving in on Monday and Tuesday, but a weak front will bring low rain chances to South MS Wednesday and Thursday.

Hurricane Matthew continued its record strengthening, hitting Category 5 status just before 10 PM this evening. The storm is still forecast to move sharply northward over the next day or so, and will still be a major hurricane when encountering Jamaica by Monday. Unless something changes drastically with Matthew’s forecast path, there is no expected Gulf Coast impact.
