02/02 Ryan’s “Groundhog Day” Friday Night Forecast
Unlike in the classic movie “Groundhog Day,” our local weather won’t be same from day to day as we’ll see drastic changes in just the next 18 hours. Yesterday’s front didn’t bring much cooling, but it did bring a good bit of clearing as skies opened up for a beautiful South Mississippi afternoon. Conditions will remain cooler and windy through the night, low falling into the upper 30s on the coast, but changes move in quickly tomorrow. The first half of the day will be nice and mostly clear, but after noon the skies darken as a developing low pressure system from the Southwest moves into East Texas. This system will be met by another frontal system coming down from the Northern plains and the two will combine to bring showers and thunderstorms into South Mississippi overnight and into Sunday morning. At the moment no severe weather is expected, but as always we’ll monitor the situation and update as needed. The rain will be on it’s way out by Super Bowl Sunday afternoon, and we’re in for a sunny and cooler start to next week.
