WWII veteran celebrates her 100th birthday
World War II veteran and Armed Forces Retirement Home resident Marion Ritchie celebrated turning 100 today with a big birthday bash surrounded by family, friends, and even some local and state leaders.
Members from Seabee unit 133 saluted Marion as she walked into her party. They partied in style with an ice cream social, cake and music. She was offered proclamations from both the City of Gulfport and the City of Biloxi.
Marion told the crowd she doesn’t feel 100-years-old, but she’s grateful to have family, friends, and even people she didn’t know on hand to celebrate with her. “I can’t think of anything better than this. My wishes are for continued good health, good mind and good feet.”
U.S Navy veteran Marion Ritchie was born and raised in California. She moved to the Armed Forces Retirement Home in 1998.
