South Mississippi businesses stocking up for Super Bowl Sunday
The clock is ticking down with just six days left to go before Super Bowl Sunday.
Super Bowl 55, it’s sure to be one to go down in the books and not just the sports books! COVID-19 is sure to have an impact on how people watch the Super Bowl. Although the vaccine is rolling out, we’re not out of the woods yet. Dr. Anthony Fauci said, “Getting vaccinated does not say now I have a free pass to travel, nor does it say that I have a free pass to put aside all of the public health measures that we talk about all the time.”
Just one reason why many are opting to watch the big game Sunday in the comfort of their own home or at a friend’s. Because of this, more customers have been pouring into local liquor stores like Shawn Petit Liquor Store in Biloxi. Owner Shawn Guider says many have been stopping by the Biloxi liquor store for their pre-game warm ups. “If they’re not going out to drink, they’re staying home to drink, it’s got to be beneficial to our liquor stores, and everybody staying safe, and that’s everybody’s first thought.”
The shelves of South Mississippi liquor stores are fully stocked. “Our spirits and our mixes are ready to go. Super Bowl is more of a beer weekend. I think last year beer sales were in the billions while liquor sales are still in the millions which to a small store is still a wonderful thing, but we do well with that. We still stay busy.”
State law prohibits liquor stores to operate on Sundays so get your pre-game checklist knocked out in time. “Shop early. We never are open on Sunday.”
