Pass Christian High students explore future opportunities at career showcase

PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. (WXXV)- Pass Christian High School is helping students look beyond the classroom and into their futures.

About 500 students took part in a career showcase, connecting with community members and exploring a variety of career paths.

For students at Pass Christian High School, planning for the future begins with discovering what’s possible.

The career exploration event connected students with local professionals, giving them firsthand insight into the education, training, and skills needed to succeed in a wide range of careers. Pass Christian High Career Coach Suzy Gilmore said, “It is our goal to make sure that students have these tools. We want to make sure that we show students that right here in Mississippi where they can get well-paying jobs at all entry levels. We want them to go to school in our state, we want them to get workforce opportunities here in our state and we want them to be successful here in the state of Mississippi.”

Students also learned about opportunities for growth and potential starting salaries. “The companies have an interest in this too, they want to grow their workforce also and they want to keep our highest-level students and all students that want to go straight to the workforce they want to keep them here also.”

By connecting students with professionals in the community, the showcase helps turn career possibilities into real-world opportunities.
