Runners Take off for Good Cause

Hundreds of Gulf Coast runners decided to earn their Fourth of July barbecue.
Monday morning, runners took off for the 36th annual Wesson Memorial Two Mile Run or Walk and children’s run in Ocean Springs.
The race is held annually by the Gulf Coast Runner’s Club with proceeds going to the Blossman YMCA in Ocean Springs. This year’s race, in memory of Dr. Ray Wesson, featured about 400 runners.
After the adult runners crossed the finish line, children aged 12 and under had their chance to show off their speed in the fourth of a mile children’s run.
Hazel Camagong and Diana Odom ran the Wesson Memorial two mile race. “The Wesson Run is a great fundraising campaign run that we actually started today. It’s for the child watch at the YMCA. We’re trying to expand it and update it. It’s a super great fundraising effort. Have fun, get active and healthy living,” said Odom.
